Waivers free

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff April 29, 2007 09:06 AM

Hannu Toivonen, re-signed earlier this week to a one-year, one-way deal worth $532,000, does not have to clear waivers in 2007-08 if the Bruins assign him to Providence.

Toivonen has appeared in 38 career NHL games, 22 less than the 60-game cutoff that establishes the waivers criteria.

Toivonen is currently part of Boston's goaltending mix, which is detailed here in today's Globe.
