Tuukka Rask, who signed a three-year maximum deal yesterday, is in Boston today. He will travel to Providence with goaltending coach Bob Essensa and most likely see some practice time with the P-Bruins.

"I'm looking forward to it," Rask said. "It's going to be a nice few weeks staying over here. We'll see what's going to happen. I'm looking forward to getting on the ice and getting to know the guys."

Peter Chiarelli said the team will progress cautiously with the 20-year-old Rask. But Chiarelli said he will give Rask, like all the rookies entering training camp, a chance to make the 2007-08 big club.

If Rask starts 2007-08 in Providence, Chiarelli said he should get the bulk of the playing time.

"We have to be realistic with where Tuukka will end up playing," said Chiarelli. "He is an elite goalie. We have high expectations of him. He has high expectations of himself. I can't say with certainty that he'll make the team, but he'll have a chance like the other rookies."
