Chistov's future

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff August 6, 2007 04:06 PM

Peter Chiarelli has heard that Stanislav Chistov might sign with Salavat Yulayev Ufa of the Russian Super League for the upcoming season.

But the GM has not heard definitively of the winger's plans.

"A couple of people have mentioned that to me," Chiarelli said of Chistov's possible departure. "I don't know one way or another. I have a call into his agent. We'll see where it goes."

If Chistov signs in Russia, he will be suspended by the Bruins, who will retain the rights to the forward under his current contract (one year, $800,000).

For example, if Chistov signs and plays in Russia for the next 10 seasons, he will still remain under contract with the Bruins for the remaining year on his current deal.
