Bergeron speaks

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff November 8, 2007 02:28 PM

Patrice Bergeron spoke for approximately 12 minutes, half in English and half in French.

Bergeron walked slowly to the podium, wearing a neck collar and sporting a slightly purple bruise on the bridge of his nose.

"I'd be lying if I said I feel good right now," said Bergeron, who spoke quietly but alertly. "It's tough for me to be sitting here right now."

Bergeron said he can walk about 200 feet before feeling dizzy. Bergeron said he received a message of apology from Philadelphia defenseman Randy Jones last week but was in no shape to accept the call.

GM Peter Chiarelli said that Bergeron was tired after the press conference and required a cold compress.

More to come.
