Bruins, 5-2

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff December 31, 2007 05:38 PM

The Bruins earned two points for the first time since Dec. 15, scoring three of their five goals on the power play.

"One thing we did start doing well is we started getting pucks in deep," said Claude Julien. "Forechecks became extremely good by putting pucks in the corner where there were chips or cross-dumps and we got on top of them. And we had a good net presence tonight."

After falling behind 2-0, the Bruins scored five straight goals.

* Matt Lashoff replaced Dennis Wideman on the No. 1 power-play unit. The move worked, as both defensemen scored power-play goals. Lashoff's goal was the first of his career.

* David Krejci took over second-line center duties from Glen Metropolit. Again, Julien's move paid off. Krejci assisted on Phil Kessel's goal, while Metropolit assisted on Mark Stuart's game-winning goal. Metropolit has recorded a point on six game-winning goals this season.

* Colin and Mark Stuart became the second set of brothers to score in the same game this season. Marian and Marcel Hossa scored in Atlanta's 4-2 win over the Rangers on Dec. 7.

* The Bruins have an optional practice at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Ristuccia Arena.
