Devils, 4-3 (OT)

After trailing 3-0 after the first period, the Devils reeled off four unanswered goals to claim the overtime victory.

"The thing, I think, that our team really has to look at is being able to stay in your game for 60 minutes," said Claude Julien. "We come out hard in the first. We do the same for the first half of the second. Then we lose focus. We start making little mental mistakes that end up in our net. We got away from our game for a while. We came back in the third and still had some chances. It could have been different. But those 10- to 15-minute lapses are crucial against good teams like the Devils."

Tuukka Rask, pressed into action after Tim Thomas (lower-body injury) left with 70 seconds remaining in regulation, allowed Patrik Elias's overtime goal.

* If Thomas can't dress tomorrow against Montreal, the Bruins will have to scramble to find a backup for Rask. Manny Fernandez is not close to game action. Jordan Sigalet is sidelined indefinitely. Mike Brown and Andy Franck are the current goalies in Providence. Franck, who started the season with the CHL's Youngstown Steelhounds, earned the win tonight against Hartford.

* New Jersey's No. 1 line connected for all four goals. Zach Parise (two goals, two assists) had a four-point night, while Patrik Elias scored two goals and an assist.

* Zdeno Chara played a game-high 33:14.

* Marc Savard extended his scoring streak to 11 games.
