The Bruins won their second straight shootout, as Marco Sturm scored the only goal of the extra session. Sturm also scored a second-period goal and assisted on Zdeno Chara's third-period goal, earning the honorary hard hat from Milan Lucic, who was the lid's keeper after Tuesday's shootout win over Carolina.

Alex Auld relieved Tim Thomas (four goals allowed on 12 shots through 40 minutes) for the third period and stopped every puck he saw. Auld, a former Panther, made 13 saves in the third period and two stops in overtime. Auld turned aside Steve Montador, Nathan Horton, and Olli Jokinen in the shootout.

"It's not easy for Auldie coming in the net in the third period," said Chara. "He was playing unbelievable. And in the shootout he stopped all three shooters. All the guys really contributed to the win tonight."

* Lucic re-broke his nose in the second period when he was high-sticked by Cory Murphy. According to Lucic, only a minor was called on Murphy because he was cut inside his nose. Lucic said he would have needed to pick his nose quite hard for him to bleed as much as he did. When he left the ice, Lucic left a trail of blood spatters on the ice.

* During the All-Star Game, Marc Savard noticed that Tomas Vokoun likes to come out of his net to challenge shooters, then dip back into the crease. So Sturm took a quick shot in the shootout that appeared to throw off Vokoun's timing.

* Phil Kessel tied the game at 14:48 of the third period, busting an eight-game streak without a goal.

* Chara led all players with nine shots.

* Andrew Ference had seven of his shots blocked.

* Shane Hnidy was on the ice for two of Florida's four goals. There's a chance that Bobby Allen might take his spot on Saturday against Tampa Bay.

* The Bruins are scheduled to practice at the Ice Forum in Tampa at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow.
