Awaiting results on Kobasew

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff March 26, 2008 01:32 PM

Chuck Kobasew underwent a CT scan today on his injured left foot. The Bruins have not gotten results from the test. Kobasew was hit last night by a Zdeno Chara shot near the ankle and didn't return.

If Kobasew is unable to play tomorrow, Peter Schaefer will be back in the lineup. Because the Bruins have 12 healthy forwards including Schaefer, they are not able to promote help from Providence on emergency recall. Matt Lashoff was brought up on emergency recall when Andrew Ference was injured against Montreal because the Bruins only had five healthy defensemen. Schaefer hasn't played since March 13 against Tampa Bay.

* Ference (leg) didn't practice today but will skate tomorrow morning. Ference will be re-evaluated then.

* Patrice Bergeron will take his neuro-psych test this afternoon. If he passes, it will be another cleared stage in his recovery from the Grade 3 concussion. Bergeron is also scheduled to see a neurologist tomorrow for further re-evaluation. Bergeron participated in practice and said he feels good.

* By his recollection, Andrew Alberts has been headache-free for the last three or four days. He must not experience headaches for one week before he is cleared for full-contact practice. Alberts sounded positive when asked if it would only require one full-contact practice before he's ready for game action. "I've had a few [contact practices]," said Alberts. "I'm able to hit guys but they can't hit me. If I get one practice where I'm banging bodies and see how I feel the next day, I'll know more."

* Marc Savard (back) will not play tomorrow.
