Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff March 20, 2008 10:19 AM

The Bruins have extended their AHL affiliation with Providence for eight seasons.

"The partnership between the Boston and Providence organizations has never been stronger and we are excited to extend our affiliation agreement," GM Peter Chiarelli said in a statement. "The close proximity of the two cities makes the relationship mutually beneficial for both teams on the hockey operations and marketing sides of our businesses."
