Some final thoughts on the Canadiens' first-round performance:

* Gutsy but, in hindsight, the correct move by Guy Carbonneau to shuffle his top two lines for Game 7. Christopher Higgins emerged with the return of Saku Koivu, and the Brothers Kostitsyn had some obvious chemistry together.

* For anyone that dismisses the importance of a crash line, just look at the series for the threesome of Steve Begin, Bryan Smolinski, and Tom Kostopoulos: monstrous. They hit everything in sight, killed penalties, created scoring chances, and made life miserable for the Bruins.

* Will the Canadiens learn from their lapses in Games 5 and 6? If so, the lesson might make them even stronger as they prepare for a deep playoff run. Some adversity might not have been a bad thing, especially for their skilled players.

* Wonder how bad the rioting would have been had the Canadiens lost.
