More from Carbonneau

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff April 21, 2008 12:57 PM

Guy Carbonneau chatted about several topics this morning, including how the 8-0 regular-season run against the Bruins might have gotten to his players' heads.

"We had so much success against the Bruins this year that maybe they thought it would be easy," Carbonneau said. "I said before the series that if I was on the other side, I'd be upset. We beat them 13 times in a row. So yes, they do play with a chip on their shoulder. That makes them a better team. Now we just have to increase that level on our side. The talent that we have should come out on top." (Blogger's note: I didn't read Carbonneau's last sentence as saying Montreal's talent should help them win. Instead, Carbonneau was saying that because of the team's skill level, the Canadiens should be able to overcome the funk they've been in the last two games.)

* Without mentioning names, Carbonneau called out his top players, no doubt including Alex Kovalev (2-2--4) and Andrei Markov (0-1--1) in the mix. "They've been in this league before," Carbonneau said. "They know they haven't played to their potential. I'd never expect anybody to play 89 games and be perfect. But the reality is they haven't played up to their potential. I don't have to name names. They know who they are. I'm sure they want to redeem themselves and help their team win the seventh game."

* Carbonneau on Carey Price (10 goals allowed in the last two games), who's been compared to Patrick Roy and Ken Dryden: "Carey has to be Carey Price. Nobody else."
