Wideman update

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff April 11, 2008 02:35 PM

Dennis Wideman was given a maintenance day today for an unspecified injury, according to Claude Julien.

"We're anticipating him to be in tomorrow," said Julien. "Just one of those days where he needed to take the day off in order to be ready to play tomorrow."

Despite taking a shot on the right side in the second period last night, Aaron Ward made it through the full practice, where he was paired with Zdeno Chara.

* Andrew Alberts was informed at approximately 5 p.m. yesterday that he would be the healthy scratch. Alberts acknowledged he was surprised to hear the news, but admitted he's been rusty. "I need to get my work in, keep watching video, and keep ready in practice," said Alberts.

* Andrew Ference reported no pain in his sprained knee. Ference took the blame for his early defensive-zone turnover that led to Montreal's first goal.

* No update on Patrice Bergeron, who took several shifts on the No. 1 line with Marco Sturm and David Krejci. "Nothing's changed from yesterday or the day before," said Julien. "That's the situation we're in. I think he's tired of answering those questions. So are we."

* Executive vice president Charlie Jacobs, GM Peter Chiarelli, vice president Cam Neely, and director of hockey operations and player development Don Sweeney watched practice.

  1. We are asking all Boston fans who love hockey to please get in touch with the National Hockey League at NHLPA.com to complain about the officiating we have seen this year. If something isnt done about this problem, teams are going to lose many more playoff games due to the refs.
