Detroit, 3-0

Sweep?

Both the Penguins and Red Wings expect things will be different come Game 3 at Mellon Arena, but with the way Detroit dominated tonight for the second straight match, the 2007-08 season might come to a close before June.

"We're going to play better," Mike Babcock said. "We've been a good road team all year. We're going to have a real good game in Pittsburgh. And we're excited to get on the road. Sometimes at home, when you're matching all the time, it disrupts your flow a little bit. We can get to Pittsburgh and let the guys just go. Let them go out the door and play hard."

Chris Osgood posted his second consecutive shutout, stopping 22 shots.

* Michel Therrien had two complaints after the loss. First, Therrien said the Wings were committing obstruction in open ice, preventing the Penguins from attacking the net. Then he accused Chris Osgood of diving on two plays that were called goaltender interference. "It's going to be tough to generate any type of offense if the rules remain the same," said Therrien.

* Evgeni Malkin had zero shots in 18:03 of ice time and was a game-worst minus-2.

* Johan Franzen was OK after the game. He was popped by a Gary Roberts punch in the third period. Franzen said he was stunned after the hit but was fine.

* The price keeps dipping on Marian Hossa (one shot) and Ryan Malone (zero shots), who served as wingmen for Sidney Crosby (six shots). Malone had the market cornered on ill-timed penalties (interference, slashing, goaltender interference).
