Kobasew re-signs
Chuck Kobasew, a restricted free agent, re-signed with the Bruins today. According to TSN, Kobasew signed a three-year deal worth $7 million.
Kobasew, in his first full season in Boston, scored a career-high 22 goals in 73 games, adding 17 assists. Kobasew served as a top-six forward, averaging 17:40 of ice time per game. Kobasew scored six power-play goals and was a regular penalty-killer, averaging 2:17 of ice time on the PK per game.
Kobasew's season ended on March 25 when he suffered a fractured left tibia when struck by a Zdeno Chara slap shot. After the Bruins were eliminated by Montreal, Kobasew estimated he wouldn't have been available until at least the third round.
Kobasew turned 26 last month. Kobasew was originally acquired from Calgary with Andrew Ference for Brad Stuart, Wayne Primeau, and a conditional draft pick. Kobasew and GM Peter Chiarelli are expected to comment on the contract tomorrow afternoon.
The remaining significant RFAs include Dennis Wideman, Mark Stuart, and Petteri Nokelainen.
