Providence 1, Portland 1

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff May 6, 2008 08:24 PM

Portland only put four second-period pucks on Tuukka Rask, but the Pirates' first shot by defenseman Joe Callahan tied the game at 1-1 at 11:29.

* The Portland bench didn't like referee Chris Ciamaga's interference call on forward Stephen Dixon, who belted Chris Collins with a blindside hit. Providence is 1 for 4 on the power play.

* Portland's second shot didn't take place until 15:33 of the second.

* Portland forward Darryl Bootland drew the attention of Dwayne Zinger by getting in the face of Rask during a stoppage. It was unclear what Rask had done to upset Bootland.

* Martins Karsums had the best chance to give Providence a 2-1 lead, putting a backhander wide of the net with Jean-Sebastien Aubin down and out.
