Vitals: 5-foot-9, 187 pounds, 20

Last year: 21-23--44 in 33 games for Val-d'Or, 10-19--29 in 26 games for Halifax

Profile: Agitating third- or fourth-line winger with speed, grit, and courage.

Notes: Selected 71st overall in the 2006 draft, one round after Milan Lucic... Had a strong training camp in 2007-08 and survived first round of cuts... Competed for Team Canada in the last two World Junior Championships, winning gold each time... Was traded from Val-d'Or to Halifax, reuniting with Bruins prospect Andrew Bodnarchuk... Was a healthy scratch for end of Halifax's playoff matchup against Gatineau, despite scoring 16 points in 14 games, sending up red flags... Did not join Providence for the stretch run after the end of the Mooseheads' season.

Quotes: "It was tough what happened there," Marchand said of being benched in the QMJHL playoffs. "That's all in the past. I'm not bringing that here. I'm going to jump into my pro career and start off right. I don't want to bring the past here. I want to work on starting clean."
