No camp for Cross
D Tommy Cross, Boston's second-round pick in 2007, will not attend the US Junior Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid, N.Y., next month. Cross, who will be a freshman at Boston College this fall, decided it was better to rehab his knee instead.
Cross was sidelined for the Bruins' development camp this month because of his knee. Earlier this summer, Cross underwent surgery to repair a partially torn meniscus, the second time he had surgery on the knee. Cross first injured the knee in the spring of 2007 while playing baseball.
WHAT IT MEANS: Cross's first priority is being healthy for the Eagles in 2008-09, not making the US roster for the World Junior Championship. However, if he tears it up for BC early in the season, USA Hockey might give him a shot. Not a good sign, however, that an 18-year-old two-way defenseman has already had two procedures on the same knee, even if the surgeries are not related.

This guy's starting to remind me of Gord Kluzak. Maybe he should transfer to Harvard.
Risky pick by the scouting staff and so far its not looking so hot. Like you say, two knee surgeries by the age of 18 isn't a good sign. Hope he can fully recover as he was fairly highly touted.
All picks are risky. Some pan out, some don't.
And they traded up for this guy? Another great pick from the overrated Bruins amateur scouting department.
