Pelletier to Chicago
The Bruins traded F Pascal Pelletier to Chicago for F Martin St. Pierre.
Pelletier, Providence's top-line left wing in 2007-08, broke out for a 37-38--75 line. The 25-year-old Pelletier, a restricted free agent, appeared in six games for the Bruins last year, where he skated mostly alongside Vladimir Sobotka and David Krejci. Pelletier didn't record any NHL points. Pelletier most likely would have had difficulty making the big club out of training camp in September.
St. Pierre, 24, scored 21 goals and 67 assists last year for Rockford, Chicago's AHL affiliate. St. Pierre went scoreless in five games for the Blackhawks.

I thought Pelletier was being groomed as Axelsson's replacement since he was a good two-way left wing. Who's going to replace P. J. when he goes on waivers?
I guess they only wanted one Newfoundlander on the team now that they've got Ryder...
Blah blah blah....does anyone really care. Another year........down the toilet.
Pascal......we will miss you. Thanks for your efforts. You were a good player for us.....tres bien, mon ami.
no one will ever replace PJ. They'd be wise not to let him go after next year.
St. Pierre is an excellent player and should see some time with the Bruins as emergency help. He has more potential than Pelletier.
Agree with JML. St. Pierre was ranked among the top ten of Blackhawks prospects on a number of hockey blogs I've seen. Wish though that the B's could convert him into a winger, because it seems like we are deep enough in centers.
Then why are they trading him? I do think we got a good player in St Pierre for him....so if you are Chicago, why trade him? Was he a RFA they couldn't sign? So RFA's like Pelletier, is he still one now having been traded? What if the new team doesn't sign him, is he a free agent? Which would make this seem like a "paper" type move , if that's the case. Hmmmm....Enlighten me someone
Where's Steve Mcintyre?
Response to Ed, #8: It could mean any number of things (and actually, the Hockey News doesn't list either Pelletier or St. Pierre as top tier prospects, so this is actually a minor trade and probably won't turn into a "steal" for either side), but it comes down to an undersized superior playmaking center with huge numbers but little else at this stage (St. Pierre) in return for an undersized winger (Pelletier) with impressive two way ability (great penalty killer) who doesn't quite have the playmaking ability of St. Pierre. It basically comes down to two GM's and their respective coaches looking at film and saying, "boy that kid would really play well with Frankie Yadda Yadda on the checking line, we should trade for him." Two teams with two different needs.
Even though this is a sign that the Bruins might not be trading PJ anytime soon, I hope this isn't a sign that the Bruins are thinking of dealing Sobotka.
Steve "punch your lights out" MacIntyre signed with Florida, a 2 year deal....so I guess he will be in Rochester this year. I found these good highlights of what we'll miss on you tube.....enjoy.....these were even better in person. Look at the from Portland fighting him with the glove on. I can imagine the pleasantries exchanged before Mac messes him up. Man, we'll miss him down here

Enjoy!!!!
St. Pierre is a good find. Let's remember that the Blackhawks were a joke last season, and any guy coming up from the minors would have done lousy. The Blackhawks have really never had a chance since the early 1970's (with honorable mention to the early 90's). This guy is probably glad to come to a team that has a chance, either in Rhode Island or Massachusetts! Boston I think could make a good home for this guy. There was a guy that was in the minors up in Ottawa (name I can't remember) that Chiarelli brought up, and his success led to ten goals in his first 20 games with the B's. So there are some finds now and then, and from what I have read, this guy could be a big surprise the Baby B's, and maybe even in Garden? As for PJ, I don't see him going, while he isn't a record breaker, he's a guy like a Don Marcotte, whose attributes are more in the mechanics of the game, steadiness and physical play, not in goals or assists.
