St. Pierre's contract
On Monday, F Martin St. Pierre signed a one-year, two-way deal worth $500,000. If St. Pierre, acquired last week from Chicago for Pascal Pelletier, plays in Providence in 2008-09, the center will earn $175,000.
WHAT IT MEANS: Although St. Pierre racked up a team-high 88 points for Rockford in 2007-08, Boston's depth up the middle will most likely dictate that the 24-year-old will start the year in Providence. St. Pierre, perhaps understanding he will be in the AHL in 2008-09, pushed for the lofty minor-league payday, where he'll play a large part in grooming Providence's rookie wingers.

Fluto. The number of teams now interested in Mats Sundin has grown to six teams.
Three of them, preferring not to be mentioned.
Are The Boston Bruins one of those teams?
Terry, not a chance on Sundin. Way too expensive and the Bruins don't have that kind of $. They'd have to whack Fernandez, Schaefer, and every popcorn guy at the Garden to free up enough cash for Sundin.
Yea 'FS', see, that's, normally, what I would say too, but, TSN reports that the three 'silent' GM's have all expresssed that, if given time, they would 'make room' for Sundin. Wishful thinking perhaps, but i just have this feeling that Chiarelli is one of these GM's.
Just don't see it Terry. Chiarelli said he didn't pursue Sundin at the opening of free agency when they had more cap space. You'd also have to move around Savard (no-trade clause) and Bergeron to make room for Sundin as a top-two center, and those guys are pretty much locked in.
