Look for updates from the following Boston Globe reporters:
- Fluto Shinzawa - Globe Bruins beat writer
- Kevin Paul Dupont - Globe national hockey writer

Mr Shinzawa has described a classic example of what smart, tough minded and creative management can accomplish. The Bruins' problem for the past 25 years has not been a lack of money. It's easy to dump on the Jacobs but the Bruins management has been inept for so long that it difficult to see any light at the end of the tunnel. There is slight reason for optimism with the current management but they have also made some horrendous mistakes (Boyes, Fernandez). These are not the kind of goofs that the Red Wings make.
Player spending has escalated to what players were making before the lockout....Its tough for the B's to pay player much above the 4-5 million a year salaries. As big of a signing as Hossa was, I dont think it would have been a good pick up for the price for the B's. Hossa will have the supporting cast in Detroit, which will make him look like he is good, when in reality he's a soft player and got lucky in the playoffs.....He's had the support over the years prior to this year, where was his out put then. Dont get me wrong, hes a good player just not worth the money Detroit gave him.
