Travel KPD-style

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff August 4, 2008 04:14 PM

Linemate Kevin Dupont's feature on Michael Ryder, a must-read for puckheads wilting in the summer heat, is scheduled to run in tomorrow's Globe.

But just as entertaining -- albeit not for KPD -- were his travel woes en route to Newfoundland last week to meet Ryder. First, Kevin checked his bag (rookie mistake by a Hall of Famer), which Air Canada promptly misplaced during Boston-to-Montreal leg.

"Finally, 36 hours after my arrival here, voila -- they brought it here to downtown hotel," Dupont wrote last week.

It gets better.

"In meantime, my only pair of shoes (sandals) gave out on me (broken strap)," KPD continued. "So I schlepped around St. John's in rumpled clothes and broken sandal all day yesterday. Finally, made it to mall and bought underwear, sneakers, and socks. Sad stuff."

Can't make up these kinds of gold-mined stories. And certainly can't keep them to myself.
