* Minnesota defenseman Brent Burns will miss approximately four weeks after undergoing surgery yesterday on his left elbow.

The four-week timetable would make Burns questionable for the Boston-Minnesota match on Oct. 11 at the Xcel Energy Center. Burns is one of brightest young defensemen in the league.

* Ottawa signed former Bruin Brad Isbister yesterday to a one-year, two-way deal.

Hard to believe the ex-Bruin is still pushing for NHL work. If he makes the big club, Isbister will add some beef to the Ottawa roster. But he could also be in Binghamton to start the season.
