Numbers game
At first glance, there are two switches:
* Peter Schaefer ditches No. 72 and takes over Glen Murray's No. 27. Schaefer had worn No. 27 in Ottawa and flipped the digits during his first season in Boston. Milan Lucic had worn No. 27 in juniors but remains in No. 17.
Peter Schaefer will no longer be in No. 72. (David Kamerman/Globe Staff) |
* Petteri Nokelainen goes from No. 56 to No. 29. Nokelainen wore No. 29 with the Islanders. Nathan Dempsey was the last Bruin to wear No. 29. (Correction: Alex Auld wore No. 29 in 2007-08.)
* No number yet for Stephane Yelle. The veteran wore No. 7 in Calgary, but that number is unavailable in Boston (Phil Esposito).

Didn't Auld wear 29?
He did indeed, Mike. Nice catch. How these 2007-08 media guides go out of date so fast...
