NEWARK, N.J. -- Raining lightly here in North Jersey, but hopefully not enough to keep my next flight from being delayed too long. The Bruins might be flying into some similar weather when they fly to Hanscom Field today.

Tonight's expected lineup against Detroit:

Peter Schaefer
David Krejci
Michael Ryder
P.J. Axelsson
Marc Savard
Phil Kessel
Milan Lucic
Vladimir Sobotka
Petteri Nokelainen
Jeremy Reich
Nate Thompson
Shawn Thornton
Mark Stuart
Aaron Ward
Matt Hunwick
Jeff Penner
Andrew Alberts
Johnny Boychuk
Manny Fernandez
Tuukka Rask

* As expected, no game action for Zdeno Chara, Shane Hnidy, and Chuck Kobasew.

* After tonight, Michael Ryder, P.J. Axelsson, Marc Savard, Phil Kessel, Jeremy Reich, Nate Thompson, Aaron Ward, Jeff Penner, and Johnny Boychuk will have appeared in three of the four preseason games.

  1. B's for sale? Red Fischler says it may be so. Check out Hockeyjournal.com. KPD reported the rumors earlier this summer as well. JJ may want to buy the Bills.

  1. Fluto,

I'm writing this post because I'm disgusted that you would even bring up the fact that Ryder and Savard have yet to click. As you stated earlier, they had played a total of 4 periods together and have failed to look like a good match. This is the same rediculous, impatient boston sports writing that we have come to read on a daily basis. The Patriots lost a game, the season is over. Big Papi is in a slump, is his career over?? How about you seperate yourself from all the other attention grabbing writers in this juvenile city and maybe wait a few games before you start writing articles about players not clicking after 2 games. And while you're add it, send the same message to Julien who feels the need to split Savard Lucic and Ryder after one game. He did the same thing last year and thats why we had differnet line combinations every game.

  1. Chris,

I read it like he was reporting it as it happened, or how it did not happen in this case and not as a dooms day prophecy. He mentioned it, he didn't do an entire article or post, lamenting the lack of chemistry between the two. He made an observation and reported it, nothing more / nothing less.
You do have a point about Claude not being patient enough with certain line combination's last season. With that being said, I would prefer to see him try a bunch of different combos now to see if something clicks, rather then three weeks from now. Which I think is what the pre-season is all about, no?
