  1. who is Kevin Nastiuk? doesn't ring a bell at all, when did they pick him up? what makes him a veteran? Why wasn't he taing part in the "goalie camp"? Speakin of, why weren't Courchaine and Hutchinson at the camp?

  1. Unrelated to the preseason roster but a Bruins question for you... if the Bruins were to cut a player before the season began, would they still be responsible for his salary and would it still count against the cap? In other words, if Schaefer had a poor camp and the team decided to cut him, would his 2.1M salary still count against the cap? I ask this seeing as we are already at 24 NHL-caliber players (counting Sobotka and Nokelainen) and are right up against the cap. Would cutting a player like Schaefer or Reich help with the cap status or would the only cap relief come from sending down players with two way contracts? Thanks for any help...

  1. If Schaefer is placed on waivers and clears (or is claimed by another team), his cap number comes off the books completely.

  1. hockey: I believe Nastiuk was in the Carolina Hurricanes organization. Not sure about last season, but at least earlier. He was somewhat of a prospect coming out of junior, but got stuck in the ECHL. Not sure why they would invite him as I doubt anything comes out of him at this point, but I suppose he's designated as a "veteran" because he's got plenty of experience from NHL camps.
