Ugh! I hate to sound like the 'sky is falling' but this is a terrible idea as far as I'm concerned.
Basically, now my 36$ tickets that come out to ~45$ anyway because of *awful* Ticketmaster surcharges will now run me ~55$ for games that are almost certain to be entertaining? (Rangers games notwithstanding).
I'm not usually on the 'bash Jacobs' bandwagon but this sure sound like they're trying to squeeze every drop out of us as possible... and yes I know this is a business but that doesn't mean all their practices are sound or fair.
What makes these teams "Gold Level" anyway? The Islanders aren't all that exciting to watch, and the same goes for the Rangers. That's my opinion anyway. I can certainly understand Montreal, Chicago, Philly, Detroit and Pittsburgh but the rest? Meeeh.
I expect more "Levels" next season...
The Isles? Really? A gold level ticket? For a team with AHL talent? So lame especially for an afternoon game after Turkey Day. I am guessing the one Sabres game and 2 Habs games must be weekends. I guess everyone else is paying the price for the All You Can Eat seats.
This is just absurd. This team doesn't have enough draw to charge higher prices for certain games. When did this become the new trend in sports? And the Fishsticks being a gold level game? Really?
Does this mean they're going to charge less for Tampa Bay, Atlanta and Florida Panthers games?
I agree with you guys 100%. I'm not makign excuses for the team, but maybe they figure Gordon is the draw for the Islanders game. And they've always tried to bill that black friday game as a tradition and an important one. maybe they figure if they raise the price and call it gold level, people will want it more? weekend games are the games that are traditionally "family" games with lots of kids. raising those prices makes it more difficult for families to attend. lots of B's fans live quite a drive from boston. We look at the schedule and circle a few games that we would like to attend to make the trip worthwhile. now its goign to cost us an extra 10 bucks a seat? plus gas, travel, and food? i guess I'll need a third job to afford being a bruins fan. what's next? jacobs sends me a bill for reading the updates on the team website?
Jacobs; "We have a team website?"
The "Gold" games are Saturday afternoon affairs. Those games actually sell out so they figure they can raise the prices by $10..... If you have a problem with that go to a weeknight game in Oct or Nov....you can sit wherever you want most of the time for less. Not that I'm a fan of Jacobs but the B's tix prices are less than alot of teams....including the Patriots and Red Sox!
