Updated salary breakdown

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff September 7, 2008 11:57 AM

Reader Dan B. had a good suggestion regarding the salary breakdown: including when contracts expire.

So here it is for now. Would like to get something in a chart/table format to make it appear less busy. We'll see what we can do.

Forwards

Marc Savard, $5 million (UFA 2010-11)
Patrice Bergeron, $4.75 million (UFA 2011-12)
Michael Ryder, $4 million (UFA 2011-12)
Marco Sturm, $3.5 million (UFA 2011-12)
Chuck Kobasew, $2.33 million (UFA 2011-12)
Phil Kessel, $2.2 million (RFA 2009-10)
Peter Schaefer, $2.1 million (UFA 2010-11)
P.J. Axelsson, $1.85 million (UFA 2009-10)
Glen Murray, $1,383,333 million (buyout expires 2010-11)
David Krejci, $883,000 (RFA 2009-10)
Petteri Nokelainen, $850,000 (RFA 2010-11)
Milan Lucic, $850,000 (RFA 2010-11)
Stephane Yelle, $750,000 (UFA 2009-10)
Vladimir Sobotka, $750,000 (RFA 2010-11)
Shawn Thornton, $517,000 (UFA 2010-11)
Jeremy Reich, $487,500 (UFA 2009-10)

Defensemen

Zdeno Chara, $7.5 million (UFA 2011-12)
Dennis Wideman, $3.875 million (UFA 2012-13)
Aaron Ward, $2.5 million (UFA 2010-11)
Andrew Ference, $1.4 million (UFA 2010-11)
Mark Stuart, $1.3 million (RFA 2010-11)
Andrew Alberts, $1.25 million (UFA 2009-10)
Shane Hnidy, $757,000 (UFA 2009-10)

* Matt Lashoff and Matt Hunwick will contend for NHL jobs. But for this model, their salaries are not included.

Goalies

Manny Fernandez, $4.33 million (UFA 2009-10)
Tim Thomas, $1.1 million (UFA 2009-10)

* Tuukka Rask will most likely spend another season in Providence.

Current cap hit: $56,219,999.

The Bruins are $480,001 under the $56.7 million cap ceiling.

  1. Fluto - This site is usually current within a couple of days at the most.

    http://www.hockeybuzz.com/cap-central/team.php?team=BOS

You can click on each team and if you click on the Team Payrolls link you get a look at each team and where they are against the cap. You can also click on the Free Agent link to sort by the remaning FA's (UFA's and RFA's). There may be a better site, but this one's pretty good.

  1. There is no more comprehensive site for NHL cap info than this one:
    http://www.nhlnumbers.com/overview.php?team=BOS&season=0809

Check out their tabular format, it's an excellent way to see future cap hits and free agents.
