Because of the game last night, there is limited participation in the morning skate at HSBC Arena, with Manny Fernandez, Vladimir Sobotka, Blake Wheeler, and Matt Hunwick the only Bruins on the ice.

Fernandez, however, will make the start tonight in Buffalo against Ryan Miller. It will be Fernandez's 300th NHL appearance.

"We've got an opportunity to put a fresh goaltender in," said coach Claude Julien. "We've got four games this week. So it's going to be an opportunity to use our goaltenders."

* Mark Stuart (No. 45), bypassed during the numerical player introductions last night at TD Banknorth Garden, wasn't sure what to do when David Krejci (No. 46) was announced after Aaron Ward (No. 44). "I was ready to go, but then they called 46," said a smiling Stuart. "So I figured, 'Oh, they skipped me, but I'll be next.' But they kept calling the other guys. So I just went all the way back. Then I was thinking maybe I should walk around to the locker room. But nobody told me what to do. So I decided to run out there and give it the old salute." As Stuart skated onto the ice, he received the usual heckling from his teammates, including Michael Ryder and Marc Savard. "Rydes gave me a hug," Stuart said. "Savvy's just like, 'Ah, go home.' "

* Tim Thomas has a cold. Fernandez was the first to get sick about 10 days ago. He then passed it onto Krejci, who then gave it to Thomas.

* Lindy Ruff gave a stick salute to Patrice Bergeron. "With Bergeron back in the lineup, they've added another superstar," said the Buffalo coach.

Because there was no morning skate, we won't know about the lineup until pregame warmups. But here's a guess on how the Bruins will look:

Milan Lucic
Marc Savard
Phil Kessel
Marco Sturm
Patrice Bergeron
Michael Ryder
Blake Wheeler
David Krejci
Petteri Nokelainen
Vladimir Sobotka
Stephane Yelle
Shawn Thornton
Zdeno Chara
Dennis Wideman
Andrew Ference
Aaron Ward
Mark Stuart
Shane Hnidy
Manny Fernandez
Tim Thomas
