Julien on Thompson, Sobotka
Naturally, Claude Julien was disappointed to lose Nate Thompson on waivers to the Islanders. But Julien was pleased that the center will get a big-league crack.
"I'm really happy for him personally because he deserves it. He's earned it," said Julien. "It's too bad we couldn't make room for him. But at least he's got an opportunity to play in the NHL."

Julien will also be without Vladimir Sobotka, who was assigned to Providence today. Sobotka was sent down for several reasons. First, he does not have to clear waivers. Second, Petteri Nokelainen must clear waivers and is getting healthier. Third, Providence will be without Zach Hamill (thumb), meaning Sobotka will be playing top-six minutes, not sitting in the press box with the big club.
"We'll see Vladdy again," Julien said. "No doubt we'll see him again. He's just got to go down there with a good attitude and keep working hard. Before you know it, he'll be back."
* Julien said he's decided who will start in goal tomorrow. Julien does not disclose his starting goaltender the day before a game, but Tim Thomas will most likely get the nod.
