VANCOUVER -- Fresh from their 1-0 overtime victory the night before in Edmonton, the Bruins reported here late this morning for a team meeting at GM Place, and only four members of the Black-and-Gold opted to go on the ice.

Particpants included the usual roster scratches: Vladimir Sobotka, Matt Hunwick, and Chuck Kobasew (fractured ankle). Manny Fernandez also joined the cast extras, which likely means Tim Thomas will be the leading in man in net again tonight, after he went 27 for 27 in the save department against the Oilers.

Coach Claude Julien, addressing the media outside the club's dressing room, declined to name his starting goalie, but all signs pointed toward the wily Thomas getting his second start in as many nights.

Prior to the faceoff in Edmonton, Julien said he told both his goalies that they had done a good job to date, but . . .

"But I'm looking for great," said Julien, acknowledging he had reached the point that he was looking for one of his goalies to take the job and run with it.

Asked after the win in Edmonton if he felt Thomas had been great, Julien said, "Absolutely."

With that in mind, and with Fernandez among the crew on the ice this morning, the bet here is that the spunky Thomas, now 2-1-2, will get the call.
