Thomas tonight
Tim Thomas will start the season opener. (Matthew J. Lee/Globe Staff) |
Tim Thomas will start in goal against the Avalanche tonight.
* Claude Julien scrubbed the morning skate. Only Andrew Alberts, Petteri Nokelainen, and Manny Fernandez are on the ice.
* The last time the Bruins cancelled their morning skate was before Game 1 against Montreal, which the Bruins lost by a 4-1 score.
* Looks like Patrice Bergeron will be the only alternate captain tonight. Will get confirmation on that before the game.
Because there was no skate, here's a guess at tonight's lineup:
P.J. Axelsson | Marc Savard | Michael Ryder |
Marco Sturm | Patrice Bergeron | Phil Kessel |
Blake Wheeler | David Krejci | Chuck Kobasew |
Milan Lucic | Stephane Yelle | Shawn Thornton |
Zdeno Chara | Aaron Ward |
Andrew Ference | Dennis Wideman |
Mark Stuart | Shane Hnidy |
Tim Thomas |
Manny Fernandez |

Well, based on this logic, the last time the Bruins HAD a morning skate before a meaningful game was Game 7 vs Montreal, and they lost that game by a bigger margin...
Hahahah good point Big Jim.
I don't really see any correlation between the two, Fluto.
Let's just hope they get their season off to a good start; either way, the morning skate will have had no bearing on the result.
You know, on paper you'd think those first three lines able of putting up a lot more goals than people are giving them credit for. Two guys who have scored 30+ goals, three who have scored 20+, and another in Kessel who could put up 30+ if he keeps the intensity he showed after his benching in the playoffs. Let's hope Julien can get the most out of these guys!
im upset Sobokta isnt in the line up. he has earned his spot here
