Wheeler on the roster

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff October 7, 2008 01:27 PM

In giving Blake Wheeler a roster spot, Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli compared the wing's situation to Milan Lucic's last year -- a big forward who opened eyes and forced the team to make a move.

"Blake has made the team," Chiarelli said. "We're going to take it slowly. I liken him a little bit to Looch last year. [Wheeler] is a few years older. But I want him to continue working hard, continue practicing hard, and we hope to see a progression. Because the level of play picks up now."
