Bruins, 3-1

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff November 17, 2008 09:10 PM

The Bruins have a two-goal lead after 40 minutes, thanks to Tim Thomas. The Boston netminder sparkled in a second period that featured a handful of top-notch scoring chances, turning aside all 11 Toronto shots.

Thomas got some help from his net, as Nik Antropov whistled a last-minute shot off the right post.

* With his second-period strike, Michael Ryder snapped a seven-game goal-scoring drought. Ryder last scored on Oct. 28 against Vancouver.

* Pretty nasty hit by Stephane Yelle on Jason Blake, which sent the Toronto winger into the boards at a bad angle. They're the types of hits the league is looking to eliminate.

* Tough roughing call on David Krejci at 10:11. After a whistle, Krejci popped Dominic Moore with a gloved punch to the face. But Moore appeared to jostle Krejci before the pop.

  1. Someone needs to explain to PC that Tim Thomas is his #1 goalie.
