Scrambly second

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff November 17, 2008 08:56 PM

The Bruins are still ahead despite a shaky second period that has featured a 21-second five-on-three Toronto power play and a defensive-zone giveaway by Dennis Wideman.

Tim Thomas is standing tall, turning aside all 10 shots so far through 13:32 of play in the second period. Thomas made his best stop on Alexei Ponikarovksy during Toronto's first power play, pulling off a patented sprawl job to keep the puck free of the net.

Wideman, under pressure from Nik Antropov, coughed up the puck to Ponikarovsky, but the forward never got off a shot.

Bruins, 2-1.
