Sturm looking good

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff December 18, 2008 11:50 AM

Marco Sturm (neck) felt good after the morning skate and should be back in the lineup tonight.

"He feels good," Claude Julien said. "If he comes in tonight and he's still feeling great, we'll still see him in the lineup. I'll make that game-time decision and we'll see how he feels when he shows up tonight."

Julien said that because of Sturm's absence, the left wing might not be thrown into every situation right away. Julien cited the upcoming schedule, which has the Bruins playing on Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday. Sturm will most likely skate on the fourth line with Stephane Yelle and Shawn Thornton.

* Aaron Ward (ankle) and Petteri Nokelainen (upper body) skated this morning before their teammates hit the ice. "It's another step toward getting better," Julien said of Ward. "He and Nokie went on the ice together for a light skate. We're trying to rebuild him to the point where we can get him back into the lineup and see if he can last more than a shift."

* Tim Thomas was the first goalie off the ice, indicating he will start tonight.

* P.J. Axelsson's father took in the morning skate. The senior Axelsson is a dead ringer for his son. They even look about the same age.

  1. Do you think the struggling Sens would take the two Axelssons for their Alfredsson?

Also, remember a few years back when PJ and Daniel both had long hair? Daniel had a mustache, clearly signifying that he was bizzaro Axelsson.

  1. I dont think anyone would take two Axelssons for more than a bucket of pucks. Any chance PJ's dad is better than he is? Put him in there, maybe he can hit the net.

  1. Any chance Axelsson senior can take his son's spot on the roster? Maybe he can actually hit the net.

  1. haha chill on PJ my friends. Granted he should be on the 4th line and not the second, but that'll happen soon enough.

It's been too man days without a B's game, LETS GO!

  1. I think it's terrible, people making fun of Axie when his dad could be reading.

On the other hand, is his dad unrestricted? Just asking...

  1. Jesus, give PJ a break here, he's a hell of a character guy, he works hard, plays solid two way hockey. He's just in a slump and he was never much of a scorer in the first place. If you want someone to rip take a look at Bergy, he can't do anything this year.

  1. anyone else super duper siked for this game tonight. I AM!!!

P.S. I love pj and what he brings to the table. he should be on the allstar team every year. he does the "little things" that contribute to the bruins wins everynight. he deserves more powerplay time and more time on a scoring line. lucic hasnt been doing so great lately, why not put Axe back with savard and kessel? if pj wasnt on this team, the bruins would be in 10th place in the east. no team deserves pj but the bruins!! hehe.
