1:55 (OT). David Krejci with the winner. Bruins, 3-2.

20:00 (3). Tied up after three. Dennis Wideman commits a late giveaway to Matt Bradley, but the Caps don't convert.

9:39 (3). Byron Bitz takes on Donald Brashear and holds his own against the Washington heavyweight. Mostly holding and grabbing, but Brashear landed some quick lefts to the back of Bitz's head.

20:00 (2). After 40 minutes, tied at 2-2. No sign of Alex Ovechkin since he went shoulder-first into the end boards.

* Just a sublime play by Patrice Bergeron leading to Marc Savard's power-play goal. Bergeron beat Alexander Semin to a loose puck, diving and stretching out his stick. After he gained control, Bergeron got to his skates and spotted Savard in the slot. The center then waited out Karl Alzner and slipped a wrister past Jose Theodore.

14: 30 (2). Alex Ovechkin has headed back to the room. He threw down both gloves and his helmet as he walked down the runway.

14:25 (2). Alex Ovechkin is back on the bench. Ovechkin was down for several minutes after barreling into the end boards, leading with his right shoulder. Ovechkin was tripped by Zdeno Chara.

6:30 (2). Grade-A stop by Jose Theodore to stuff Stephane Yelle after a Shawn Thornton cross-crease feed.

20:00 (1). After 20 minutes, Washington with a 2-1 lead. During a delayed tripping penalty on Andrew Ference, Michael Nylander backhands a late goal through Tim Thomas at 19:39.

* Nothing out of the ordinary for Ference, Patrice Bergeron, and Milan Lucic. Ference skated with Dennis Wideman during even-strength play and was on the point on the No. 2 PP unit. Bergeron, playing wing for the first time since he was a rookie, skated seven shifts for 5:10 of ice time. Bergeron was alongside Zdeno Chara on the No. 1 PP and killed one penalty with P.J. Axelsson. Lucic was credited with two hits over nine shifts. The big left wing skated on the No. 1 PP.

* Not a bad start for Shawn Thornton, who intercepted Alex Ovechkin and made an Ovie-like move to beat Jose Theodore. Thornton is on the second PP unit. He leads all Bruins with three shots.

* Chuck Kobasew threw the hit of the period, belting Boyd Gordon into the end boards.

9:26 (1). Tied up, 1-1. Shawn Thornton picks off Alex Ovechkin, swoops in, and roofs a backhander over Jose Theodore. Highlight-reel stuff from the tough guy.

7:34 (1). One up-front shift for Matt Hunwick so far. Hunwick said he played some forward in college.

4:20 (1). Patrice Bergeron taking his usual spot on the No. 1 PP.

2:58 (1). Shawn Thornton on the No. 2 PP.

2:08 (1). Caps, 1-0. Mike Green with the goal, one second after the Bruins kill off Marc Savard's high-sticking penalty.

1:20 (1). Patrice Bergeron on the PK with P.J. Axelsson. No score.
