Ference skating alone

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff January 14, 2009 11:08 AM

WILMINGTON -- Good morning from Ristuccia Arena, where the Bruins will practice before leaving for their two-game road trip (Islanders, Capitals).

Andrew Ference is the lone Bruin on the ice now. Ference is working with strength and conditioning coach John Whitesides. As of two weeks ago, Ference was thinking he might be ready for game action by now. But in the last 10 days, his recovery has hit a plateau. Ference said there is no damage to his fractured right tibia, but that his progress hasn't been as steady as it was before.
