The Bruins knew they'd be facing a hungry Pittsburgh club desperate for a better effort after a 5-2 dud on Tuesday.

They got it.

"From what we hear, they're not happy on their side with their game," said Manny Fernandez. "So we expected their best game."

The Bruins took Pittsburgh's best and gave it right back, claiming a 4-2 win, their 10th in a row. It was their 14th straight victory at TD Banknorth Garden. Milan Lucic netted the game-winning goal, with Marc Savard adding an empty-netter.

* Yet another solid effort from Fernandez, who turned away 30 shots. He made a sharp glove save on an Evgeni Malkin one-timer late in the third.

* In his two games on the No. 1 line, P.J. Axelsson has one goal and three assists. Axelsson had a team-high five shots tonight.

* Vladimir Sobotka was on the ice for two Pittsburgh goals. Sobotka threw the hit of the night when he belted Jordan Staal in open ice.

* The Bruins practice tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. at Ristuccia Arena.

STICK SALUTE: Stephane Yelle. Two assists, 16 of 24 on draws, 16:33 of ice time. Best game as a Bruin.

SIN BIN: Sidney Crosby. Zero points and was on the ice for two Boston goals.
