Lashoff recalled
Matt Lashoff has been recalled by the Bruins on an emergency basis, indicating that Aaron Ward might be out for at least the next two games because of his most recent injury. Lashoff will join the team on its two-game road trip to Long Island and Washington.
Tuukka Rask has been assigned to Providence.

I like Ward a lot BUT he just cant stay on the ice.Its been a problem for 2 years now and they have to adress it.Im not sure he can be counted on to stay healthy come playoff time..
Sign of a strong organization, when we can reach down to the minors and see those players all contribute.
You have to love Ward's heart and competitiveness, but this guy is a walking, skating injury waiting to happen. Sit him down for a month and let his body heal before putting him back in the lineup. I hope that PC and CJ are not counting on him to be available for the stretch run.
Dupont; forget Lacavalier. Dany Heatley's the guy the B's should be looking at. His name (as well as Spezza's) is starting to surface in Ottawa. THAT is the guy the Bruins want. His contract makes him nearly unmoveable and I doubt the Sens are interested in trading with their Division mates but if Ottawa 'wants' to move him and the Bruins are seriously looking for a high-calibre, marquee player, then Heatley and not Lacavalier is the player they should be coveting. THIS guy is a Bruin. he would flourish here.
A Goalie, A young defenceman and a prospect would get it done
Ward can't stay on the ice because of the way he plays...like Eric says....heart and competitiveness......throws his body around with reckless abandon...he'll be fine.....charley horse....2-3 more games...
I'll take 6 d-men like Ward on my hockey team any day....
Plus Lashoff hasn't looked too bad....I mean...he doesn't look too good either...
Turk...that's all it would take....your nuts....they'd want a kessel/krejci/lucic/wheeler...and we don't have a spare one of those just laying around...unless you want to trade any of the guys that I listed...which would be even dumber....
Scoring isn't the issue right now...health is...
Oh, man, I hope this doesn't become one of those boards that's full of idiotic trade proposals...
Turk is right, if we can get Danny Heatley. The guy is a Bruin. He would fit nicely on the first line, second or third. Not exactly aggressive, but a little bit of "Boston" could change that. He does focus on scoring more that the hitting. I say yes, please try for him.
Trade Lashoff and another prospect for Nathan Horton in FL. His name has been rumored in trade talks and he only would cost the Bs 3.5 mil (same as Sturms contract). He also has another year on his contract and (I think) would flourish here in Boston.
How about we re-sign Kessel, Krejci and Hunwick and then worry about additions?!
Heatley would look awesome as a Bruin, but as mentioned, its so unlikely given the Sens are division rivals, the return he would command (its going to take more than a few scrubs - or a UFA goaltender), and that he's signed beyond this season (cap issues).
Stand pat - ride out the injuries, take a look at the team come deadline time and see where the holes are (scoring goals hasn't really been a problem this year) and bring in some short term help if necessary ... WITHOUT ... risking the future. If there's a guy available that could seriously help in the playoffs and play a major role ... I don't have a huge problem with giving up this years first round pick considering it will be a late one anyways (normally I'm against the whole rental thing) along with a fringe prospect.
There are at least 15 players that can be had for less to _much_ less than Heatly who are as effective as he has been this season. He's gonna get paid $8mil each of the next two seasons, so who do we trade for him Chara? Gimmie Dustin Brown, Dustin Penner, Alex Semin, Joe Thornton, or half a dozen others for less money, which means more room to keep the young guns we have.
b&gbleeder:
You also have to factor in the likelihood of getting the person. Yes, you can get semin or thornton for less, but I HIGHLY doubt the Caps/Sharks are going to let those guys go.
However, I don't see the Sens sending off anyone from their top line, so this is fairly moot, anyway.
Oh, i don't disagree a bit. The Sharks could probably spare Joe easier than the Caps could shed Sasha, but I put either one moving (and Brown) in a category about equal with Eric Staal and or Mikko Koivu landing here...
If you look at the roster and the salary PC has done a damned good job of balancing the pay out. The Pen's have 38 mil on the books for next season to pay: Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Gonchar, Whitney, Orpik, and Fluery. By comparison the Bruins have: Savard, Bergeron, Kobasew, Ryder, Sturm, Lucic, Wideman, Ward, Stuart, Chara & Ference under contract for $435,000 more. Which roster (assuming no changes) do you think is more likely to compete at a high level next year? There are a couple other players on both teams that are signed, and some who will probably be resigned.
That;s five of our D to their 2, and both (when healthy) our top centers, the guy leading the NHL in hits...
No No No....none of those guys would have to go.
Dupont's wrong to think the Bruins would have to give up that much for Lecavalier Just as it is foolish if Montreal is truly floating that much for Lecavalier
These big, long term contracts are extremely unattractive and onerous. Teams on the verge of Playoff elimination would love to shed them and would have a hard time doing so. And make no mistake the Bolts are trying to trade Vincent just as Ottawa has been trying to trade Spezza for 2 months. Now heatley's name is being mentioned. The Bruins would be in the drivers' seat with all the leverage, almost doing Ottawa (13 pts out of a Playoff spot and soon to be unloading everything that isn't nailed down) a favour.
The B's would not have to give up as much as people think. As
I said: a goalie (fernandez); A young defenceman, a prospect, and maybe a Draft Pick...maybe.
What I think would be better would be a mid-level, fairly experienced acquisition to help fill the gaps. Sure, the Providence call-ups are doing fine, but shoring up the roster can't hurt. The perfect analogy for this would be what the Celtics did with PJ Brown last year...gotta have someone who can be a good role player, but won't kill the payroll. It's just a matter of who's available, and what they'd have to give up for them.
