The Americans are hoping for a better result in Vancouver than they posted in Turin. (Jim Davis/Globe Staff)

* Some good grinders on this line, but certainly not as much skill as the Canadians. USA Hockey has some issues to address, but the concerns start at the youth hockey level. Case in point: the shrinking number of high-level New Englanders. Who knows if this is the root of the problem, but the complaint from hockey ops in both pro and college is that youth hockey isn't as strong as it used to be.

* Four off this roster played major junior. The rest played college hockey.
