Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff January 14, 2009 11:10 AM

Vladimir Sobotka has been recalled from Providence. Sobotka will join the team on the two-game road trip.

Sobotka is taking the place of Martins Karsums, who has been assigned to Providence.

  1. Good.
Sobotka has shown a reasonable scoring touch in Providence and more grit than either Martin or Martins, i think it would be nice to see him sent out with the intent that he score.

  1. Good to hear, I love watching this kid play. He may be small but all I see is him flying into the corner and making the hit. He's along the lines of Lucic, where you see the play develop and then see the hit coming and everyone in the stands gets ready to cheer.

  1. This kid is a sleeper. He really makes things happen out there, a sparkplug. Very, very underrated. This kid has to be there in the playoffs.

  1. I think on most other NHL teams Sobotka is an everyday player. He was brilliant in the playoffs last season and has been great this year when we needed him. He hits, he hustles and he gets on the score sheet. With all of the young talent that is going to have to get locked up in the coming years, I see Vladdy being a great short-term solution.
