The Habs wore dazzling ''Barber Shop'' sweaters that they first wore in the 1912-'13 season (months after Fenway Park opened its doors). The CAC on their chest: Canadien Athletic Club. It was the first time this season that the Habs have worn the fancy sweaters, and they will wear them only once more. All part of the club's 100-year anniversary. The sweaters' horizontal stripes are bleu, blanc et rouge.
Carey Price, tending the Habs net, also wore old-style pads, blocker and glove -- covered with what amounted to faux leather.
1:06 -- Shawn Thornton and Alex Henry throw down gloves for a long battle in the Boston end. The two pugilists trade some bombs, with Thornton getting the better of his opponent late in the match. Henry finally gave out, willingly yielding to linesmen Mark Shewchyk and Dan Schachte.
6:34 -- Guillaume Latendresse is thwarted on a sweeping wraparound at the right post.
10:00 -- Little offense to this point. Habs hold a 4-2 shot lead. Both clubs playing tight defense in their own ends of the ice.
13:09 -- Chris Higgins whistled off for slashing. Boston rolls out No. 1 power-play unit of Wheeler-Krejci-Ryder, backed by Ference and Wideman. Bruins offer very little on the PP. Saku Koivu decks Wideman with a heavy check just over the blue at line at Boston's offensive end at 14:30.
17:52 -- Ward whistled off for tripping rookie Max Pacioretty.
18:18 -- Ex-Bruin Robert Lang walks to faceoff dot in left circle and snaps in sharp wrister, beating Thomas high on the short side.
19:02 -- Ryan O'Byrne whistled off for interference.
19:24 -- Kessel sent to penalty box for high-sticking Mike Komisarek.
19:54 -- With the sides skating four apiece, Wideman picks off Komisarek pass high in Boston's offensive zone and nails a sizzling wrister, two-thirds of the way up the left post on Price's stick side.
Period ends in 1-1 tie.
