With five games remaining in Boston's regular season, the Bruins are looking at a first-round showdown with either Montreal or the Rangers, with Florida being the dark horse candidate.

* Last night, Montreal tucked five pucks behind ex-Canadiens goalie Yann Danis to score a 5-1 win over the Islanders. The Canadiens scored three power-play goals. They are now in seventh place with 90 points, one more than the Rangers. The Canadiens play at Toronto tomorrow.

* The Rangers dropped a 4-2 road match to Carolina last night, leaving them in eighth place with 89 points. The Bruins host the Rangers tomorrow.

* Florida, currently in ninth place (87 points), hosts Atlanta tonight. Even if the Panthers win, the Rangers would hold onto eighth place.
