The Bruins will face off against Carolina in the second round of the playoffs. The matchup was finalized when the Hurricanes (No. 6) beat New Jersey (No. 3) in last night's Game 7, 4-3. Carolina completed an improbable comeback from being down 3-2 late in the third. Eric Staal netted the game-winner at 19:28 of the final frame. Earlier in the night, the Rangers lost to the Capitals in their Game 7, 2-1.

The Bruins went 4-0-0 against the Hurricanes this season. But Carolina has been a different team down the stretch run. Staal has been a force, while Cam Ward has been solid between the pipes.

Here's the schedule:

  • Game 1: Friday, May 1 in Boston (7:30 p.m.; NESN, Versus)
  • Game 2: Sunday, May 3 in Boston (7:30 p.m.; Versus)
  • Game 3: Wednesday, May 6 in Carolina (7:30 p.m.; NESN, Versus)
  • Game 4: Friday, May 8 in Carolina (7:30 p.m.; NESN, Versus)
  • Game 5*: Sunday, May 10 in Boston (7:30 p.m.; Versus)
