If there was one element that Mark Recchi saw in his team's game last night, it was how sloppy the Bruins were when they had the puck on their sticks.
"That's the biggest thing that we noticed today on the video," Recchi said. "When we did win battles -- there probably weren't a lot of them -- we were careless with the puck after. We would just throw pucks at net. We weren't patient with it. We didn't hold onto it. That's a big key to our game. We're big and strong and fast. Guys hold onto the puck and make it really hard for other teams. We cycle the puck well. We use our defensemen well. We weren't doing that at all. We haven't done that very well in the first two games."
* The Bruins went 0 for 4 on the power play last night. They are 0 for 7 in the series and scoreless in their last 14 man-advantage opportunities. "I thought our power play was pretty reflective of our whole game," Claude Julien said. "We weren't as sharp as we know we can be. Our decision-making yesterday was just iffy."
* Perhaps the most effective threesome in Game 2 was the fourth line of P.J. Axelsson, Stephane Yelle, and Shawn Thornton. The fourth-liners skated well, finished their checks, and were rewarded with several scoring chances. "Had we had the rest of the guys with the same kind of focus, we probably would have had better results," Julien said.
* The Bruins will practice tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. at Ristuccia Arena, then travel to Raleigh.
