Good morning from TD Banknorth Garden, where the Bruins are holding their end-of-year breakup day. The room will open for player availability at 10 a.m. Peter Chiarelli and Claude Julien will speak at 12:30 p.m.

We'll post a recap of today's events as news unfolds. Later in the week, we'll be looking back at 2008-09 and offering some thoughts on 2009-10. You can also check back on Thursday for a year-ending mailbag. If you have any questions, send them in.

  1. //Rumors persist in St. Paul that the Wild could hold off on filling their GM vacancy and scoop up Chiarelli next summer. Keep in mind: Phil Falcone, the Wild's minority owner, was one of Chiarelli's Harvard teammates in the '80s.//

We know rumours and heresay tend to fly around during the off-season but my hope is ownership moves to lock up PC in short order. I love the job he's done with our club. The quick turnaround of the squad has been nothing short of remarkable. I think I remember reading on our board that he's a local guy from down there so maybe that connection will play a part in him staying. We don't want to run the risk of some other franchise throwing tons of dough at him like the Leafs did with Burke this year. I'm hoping ownership recognizes the job he's done. Clearly, he's one of the brightest, young hockey minds in the league.
