Video: Reaction roundup
Globe hockey writers provide insight and analysis following Boston's 4-0 triumph over the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series at the TD Banknorth Garden.
Dupont: Sometimes it's the simplest things
The Globe's Kevin Paul Dupont says that, while it sounds so very simple, the Bruins turned their play around in Game 5 by being able to keep the puck in their offensive end, something they had struggled mightily with in recent games.
Shinzawa: Huge scare with Chara injury
The Globe's Fluto Shinzawa says that players, coaches, and fans all breathed a sigh of relief when Bruins captain Zdeno Chara returned from a left ankle injury early in the third period. And, boy, was he needed.

I am glad Chara came back alright, but more concerning at this point is the possible broken orbital bone that Aaron Ward may have suffered due to the sucker punch he got from Walker. Hopefully we don't lose Ward for a very critical game 6, and hopefully game 7. He's as important as Chara because he is our #2 D-man, a work horse, and a big reason why Chara can move up into the offense when he wants- a good partner always makes a defenseman better. I hope the league looks at the punch and suspends Walker- if they suspended Lucic for his altercation, this was clearly an intentional cheap shot that was meant to injure.
I hope they don't suspend him, because if he gets on the ice Tuesday, paybacks for sure. You can bet Lucic or most likely Thornton is going to answer that cheap shot. That is the Bruins way. If it is only a game suspension, he will be toast in game 7 in Boston. The Bs fans will be aware of him every minute and will demand his butt kicked. Go Bs, finish the whale.
Chara and Lucic have been taking cheap shots all series long. Ward needs to defend himself. He started something and just decided to stop once he saw Scott Walker. The refs have been calling stuff in Boston's favor the whole series.
John, Ward didn't start anything...he was protecting the front of the net...Walker came over to him.....put him in a head lock...backed off a little bit....Ward doesn't say anything.....Walker drops the gloves and throws a punch before Ward can defend him....watch the tape!
Classless...but not surprising...Walker isn't the classiest of players...
5 games! At least....
@Don: I DO hope they suspend Walker, because Carolina having one less man is always a good thing for the Bruins. I do agree that either Lucic or Thorton would have an answer for the cheap shot, but remember, they don't need to risk taking a stupid penalty when the series is on the line. I doubt that much more than a solid hit will happen for this reason. For example, when Avery hit Thomas in the head with is stick at the end of the regular season, they didn't retaliate because it was a 1 goal game with only a few minutes left, so it would have been silly to take a penalty to get payback. Now, with the series on the line, the chances of a payback hit or fight are smaller. I would prefer the Bruins retaliate by playing Tuesday the way they did last night and forcing Game 7.
@John: Bob is right, it wasn't a matter of Ward needing to defend him self. He was protecting the slot and Walker came in to the "defense" of the other Carolina player. Ward refused to be goaded in to taking a stupid penalty (though he did get a roughing penalty), and Walker sucker punched him. There's a difference between defending oneself and playing smart. I'd rather the Bruins play smart and let the 'Canes keep taking penalties like they did last night.
