Camp wrap, Day 2

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff July 8, 2009 12:49 PM

WILMINGTON -- The prospects have concluded their rink work for the day. They are now going through off-ice workouts under the watch of strength and conditioning coach John Whitesides.

During the first on-ice session, the players went through a variety of drills -- one-on-one, two-on-two, passing, skating. After a break, they went back on the ice for power skating drills.

Some player observations:

F Jordan Caron -- Big forward who moves well for his size... can protect the puck when he drives to the net... Skill with the puck on his stick.

F Joe Colborne -- Soft hands for a big man... Still growing into his body... Extra weight hasn't taken away from his skating.

D Yuri Alexandrov -- Mobile skater... very good with his stick to bust up plays... slender (185 pounds).

F Jamie Arniel -- Not afraid to go to the dirty areas... Strong on his skates.

F Max Sauve -- Fast, perhaps one of the fastest in camp... Likes to have the puck on his stick.

F Jeff LoVecchio -- Has some bite to his game... Plays a big man's game.

  1. updates like this are great, more about the players skill sets and less about how they feel about being in Boston, or their life histories, etc. Thanks Fluto!

  1. I think Arniel could be a sleeper. Kid has excellent skills. People forget this kid was the highest rated player the Bruins have Drafted in 2 years. He has NHL ability.
