Door closes on camp
WILMINGTON -- The prospects have concluded all on-ice activities for development camp. They are going through off-ice workouts with strength and conditioning coach John Whitesides one last time. They will have a cookout tonight at the house of Don Sweeney, director of hockey operations and player development, and scatter to their respective destinations tomorrow.
"I thought we had a really good week," Sweeney said. "I think the kids really came in and worked hard."
Zach Hamill is one of the players who will remain town for an extra week of workouts with Whitesides.
* Some of the players will return to Boston in September, then depart for Kitchener, Ontario, for rookie camp. None of the college players (Joe Colborne, for example) will attend the camp. GM Peter Chiarelli said the organization is still determining whether players with one year of pro experience like Hamill will attend the rookie camp.
* During their first development camps following their respective drafts, neither Hamill nor Colborne looked as polished as Jordan Caron did this week. Caron, the 25th pick of the 2009 draft, showed good wheels, an excellent release, and the ability to protect the puck. The Bruins will take a good look at Caron in camp, then most likely return him to Rimouski. Caron should be in the mix for a Team Canada roster spot for the World Junior Championship.
* The Bruins have not decided whether Adam Courchaine will return to juniors as an overage player in 2009-10. Kevin Regan is not expected to be 100 percent by the start of camp because of labrum surgery he underwent toward the end of 2008-09.

Red Slurpees are the best.
Geez, Dave, if you're not a hockey fan, just skip this blog. That's easy enough.
This Hamill kid sounds impressive. He's said he's trying to pattern his game after Krecji which can only mean good things.
Dave, there's always bullriding. I hear they're looking for fans.
