Winter Classic sneak peek
NHL manager of communications Schuyler Baehman is using his Twitter account to offer a couple of glimpses into today's press conference to announce the Flyers vs. Bruins in the upcoming Winter Classic. Here's a few of his pictures, including the event's logo:

this is awesome, but anyway, how much for a seat behind home plate?
They ruined this. There is no reason that the Bruins are playing the Flyers and not someone else. None.
Sweet logo! (aside from the corporate marketing)
As for tickets, should we all just call Ace Tickets first thing?
Awesome! now I just hope that season ticket holders will have first access.
Why not follow the old football field configuration they used to use for the Boston Redskins and Patriots (parallel to the right foul line)? Here's a picture of what I'm talking about:

This is taken from the left field grandstand, facing towards the bleachers. Note the temporary stands in left field...if they can build a massive stage for the Rolling Stones, they can recreate those stands. And I'm pretty sure you could STILL seat people in the Monster Seats behind it! If they did it this way, it would be the one time all those people sitting in the right field grandstand would actually be facing the right direction!
So Ty Conklin has to be traded from the Blues to the Bruins or Flyers before this game, right? ;-)
What's with the lamppost?
When do tickets go on sale?
According to my ticket rep- Season Ticket holders get guaranteed seats at Fenway which will be in an area similar to your Garden seats. So, wahoooooo For that! Who's going with me?! haha
The lamppost is straight up Boston. And why aren't they playing the Canadiens?
Hey Laurie,
I like long walks in the cold, Fenway Park, and hockey, care to do lunch? How does January 1st 2010 around 1pm sound?
The lamppost is clearly designed to look like the "olde tyme" looking lamps they have on Beacon Hill and in the Back Bay.
Hey Chris: thanks for not approving my comment that the rink should be following the old football field configurations (parallel to the right foul line) instead of going across the infield. What was your excuse for deleting my perfectly-okay comment? Because I included a link to a photograph that illustrated my point? Yeah...that makes a lot of sense. You've really done your readers a favor!
Enjoy the game Bruins fans! I went to last year's game in Wrigley and let me give you a tip on seats for watching a hockey game in a baseball stadium. You want to be near a corner on the infield side and much higher than you would think. That gets you closest to the ice and you need to be high to see over the boards.
And for outdoor hockey in January, seats under a cover is a huge plus.
And did I miss news on Phil Kessel, he isn't being crucified.
Oh don't worry all you season ticket holders, you'll have first crack to pony up...and I do mean PONY up...$150-200 face value per ticket, which is what the good people of Chicago paid last year. In looking at the video here, it looks like there will be a whole lot of seats with terribly low angles...you won't be able to actually see the puck! Thanks anyway Jerry Jacobs, but New Year's Day is always a good day to stay home.
